The Crisis which demands the patience- COVID 19 “When one door closes, another opens, but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us” The story begins from Wuhan, the capital of China’s Hubei province. Seven patients were admitted in a private hospital because of severe fever and pneumonia. The disease was not identified and they were given common medication. But the things started to change when the doctor realized that all of the seven patients showed similarities in their symptoms. The famous ophthalmologist of the same hospital suggested that the condition was similar to that of an epidemic spread. Later it was revealed that the symptoms were similar to that of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome SARS, which devastated the whole world in 2002. But the doctors were too late because the hospital staffs and doctors who consulted the patients started to show high fever, cough and difficulty in breathing. The ophthalmologist himself showed similar symptoms and the chance of an epidemic spread rose to fame. The doctors were advised to take necessary precautions and safety measures, all the patients were isolated and were given separate treatments. However the disease began to spread rapidly, causing a tremendous increase in the number of patients within a week. It was the time of New Year and all the people were in a mindset of celebrations and were eagerly waiting for the 2020 to approach. But the faith was something else. The people of China witnessed something more dreadful than ever. The genetic experts named the new virus as corona and it became the COVID 19 of the world. The setting of the story was not limited to China only. By the late January of 2020, the people of other countries started to show similar symptoms. The first case in Iran was reported in January. Later the number increased with Italy, Spain, France, etc. Even though the disease was rapidly spreading, the European countries failed to establish precautionary methods. They failed to use the time they got, but in China there was no time. Within a month Wuhan was changed to a place of no human residence. No humans were on the road all they saw was just some people wearing masks. The streets that once overcrowded were seen empty and no one was there to see this. The Chinese Government suggested a complete lockdown for Wuhan, but later it was changed to whole China. By then the people started to realize the need to get into a lockdown. By then the European countries began to fail. They were in a great dilemma and were shown tensed. They failed to ensure the control over the COVID 19 as it spread swiftly. Italy was the one with the greater number of cases and within a week they showed a tremendous increase in the death rate due to COVID 19. The no of deaths were increased to 4000 from 2000, 8000 from 4000 and above 14000 from 8000. Soon Italy was captured in a great tension on ensuring the safety of the lives of the people. The condition was not different in Spain and France. The first case in our country India was reported in our own God’s own country, Kerala. Three medical students were tested positive. They were all isolated, and the people who underwent direct contact with the patients were imposed in home quarantine. Due to the hard work and dedication of our state Government they were given proper treatment and care. All the three were soon cured. But the problems began to get complicated, when the cases started to report in other parts of India rather than Kerala. Soon after, some days second level of transmission in Kerala began to take place. Due to the transmission, the State Government was forced to postpone and all the people were asked to get into a complete lockdown and we are in that particular condition. The problem began in Wuhan of China. But it is now hunting each and every person around the world. They all are in a great dilemma and are ignorant to face the situation. The path to our safety is covered with darkness. Even though the doctors insist people to stay at home to avoid community spread it may suffer from practical problems. It is not sure how long we could make them stay inside the house. The problem began to occur when the people under the daily wages, community started to suffer a severe economic crisis. Often people like to have fun with their family during the vacation days. But they feel really suffocated when they are asked to stay at home at the time of entertainment. But we should thank god that we are at the brink of community spread and have not entered it. It is really a great pleasure to say that we are safe in the hands of a great leader, our honorable chief minister Sri Pinarayi Vijayan Sir. We cannot ignore the hard work and dedication of the medical staffs and our health minister K Shailaja Teacher who are there at all the time to ensure better safety and care for us. It will be so unethical if we do not obey the words of our officials while they are trying to save us. We should observe the things that are happening around us. The conditions of the European countries are becoming pathetic as the death rate is becoming so furious. In a day a death rate of more than thousand people is being reported in these countries. There is an increase in the number of people residing in one square kilometer of Kerala than Italy, Spain, France, Britain etc. At this point we should think and understand that the situations in Kerala have not changed to that of Italy because of our strict rules and its protectors. We should thank the entire Kerala Police Force who applies stress on us to stay at home. Their duty demands nothing in return. But they are all on duty for our lives. It is the time to thank the Doctors, Nurses and every Medical staffs who work with much dedication to save our lives without the difference of day and night. But it is really sorry to say that our youngsters are not ready to accept that and they are trying to invite the crisis. Italy became the point of highest death rate as they did not use the time they got. But for us, the situation is not like that. Each and every minute is being properly used. So it is our duty to be more vigilant and worthy towards them. So it is the time of our action. The time we got in extra is the time that we should use collectively to stay healthy and stay on. We should take twenty seconds break for every twenty minutes and should wash our hands. The Doctors demand that COVID 19 is not completely airborne, but it is spread mainly through respiratory droplets. As it demands this type of a different situation, it is necessary to keep our hands clean and tidy. This must be the time to be with our family and complete what we have left. Follow whatever we need to keep ourselves healthy. But only one condition, be at home. We should take an oath to stay in quarantine. This time is going to demand something more dramatic. Optimism should be in our mind. We should not surrender to that dreadful disease. We all are humans. Listen to what the quote says our life is full of doors and when one door closes that is when one way blocks another way comes in front of us. But we often look so long upon the closed one that we do not see the one which has opened for us. There is no word like loss or defeat in this situation.
